For the 2025 "Robin Hood Benefit Gala" I was responsible for creating and designing individual audio assets that would be used during the event. I made looping crowd sounds, edited all the mixes for the video packages during the event, and was responsible for audio that acted as the show's "hook": the "Monday Night Lights" moment.
In collaboration with our in-house motion graphics team, we created a series of stadium floodlights that would turn on in succession and in rising speed. Early on, I saw this as an opportunity to try and make the moment feel more immersive inside the Javits Center. I designed and presented the sound effect weeks prior to the event, preparing to fine-tune the mix on-site.
Once we arrived, I saw that the venue was set up with a number of line array speakers facing out from a central "jumbotron" style display. While the immersive effect might be minimal due to this speaker placement, I knew I still wanted to try making the experience as immersive as possible.
Front of house mixer Greg Allen and I broke down what channels corresponded to which array and I mapped the audio accordingly in Reaper. The final mixdown then also received timecode so that it would sync with the motion graphics.
On the day of the event, I was told by some of the event photographers that the moment did feel more immersive.
